Finding something to blog about had proved to me to be the biggest challenge writing a blog! I see things and come up with ideas and think maybe I have a topic then I end up tossing the idea for something else. Ive decided that good bad or ugly Im just going to write what I think when I think it and let the chips fall where they do.
So that being said my latest topic is, drum roll please, ABANDONED BUILDINGS, buildings buildings......Here that echo? Just like the thunderous voice of that guy who announces the monster truck shows! Ok well maybe not...Ok so anyway.
I really love old buildings! I spent a large portion of my life as a contractor and during that time I saved my share of old barns, homes and buildings. The amount of work that goes into restoring an older home or barn can be enormous and very time consuming. Not to mention VERY expensive. I firmly believe that to be the main reason why many old homes fall into disrepair. When I set out to find these types of structures I initially thought it would be relatively easy to do. Wrong. Yes there are quite a few to be found, however the problem of accessibility was the first challenge to overcome. Next was finding those that are photogenic. Lets be honest, some old buildings just look really bad and don't have much to offer the lens of a photographer. Now there are some that will argue there is always a photo to be made of just about any scene and that may be true, but for me its got to say something to me or I'm just not in it. Is that a bad thing? Maybe but that's the way I am!
The next thing I found myself dealing with was the weather. I swear every time I tried to go shoot it was either raining already or planning to soon. While the overcast sky can add drama to photos and some even seek this out, I wanted some sunshine! Well, I didnt get it and I finally decided if I was ever to get this post made I would have to just work with what I got.
So have a look at my first offerings in this gallery and let me know what you think. I have MANY more I want to add here but there just isnt enough hours in the day so I will have to add them as I get the time. Until then take care and enjoy the view!! Also all the photos you see here can be purchased in large print size and even framed. Contact me for more details if interested. Clicking on any picture will bring take you to the others in this gallery.
